Do

  • Store your jewelry in a clean, dry place.
  • Store pieces separately to minimize scratching.
  • Make sure that a clasp is fastened securely.
  • See us at least once a year to have your jewelry checked for loose prongs, worn mountings, and general wear and tear.
  • Visit us every six months to have your jewelry professionally cleaned.
  • Use a soft toothbrush and liquid detergent, should you choose to clean your jewelry yourself.
  • Restring pearls annually if they are worn frequently.

Don't

  • Wear fine jewelry when doing housework, gardening or weight training.
  • Wear fine jewelry to the beach.
  • Use chlorine bleach or other household chemicals while wearing fine jewelry.
  • Clean your jewelry with toothpaste – it is too abrasive.
  • Wear fine jewelry in the shower or tub. Soap can cause a film to form on karat gold jewelry, making it appear dull and dingy.
  • Apply cosmetics, perfume or hairspray while wearing your pearls. When you remove the jewelry, wipe it carefully with a soft cloth to remove any traces of these substances.
